The Sorcerynet channel #Club`Vampire is a Freeform Role Playing channel.
The rules and their interpretation will be decided by the Ops and participating Players.
What this essentially means is that no dice or set strata of rules (other than these posted) are used in the determination of conflict or other activity. Your characters freedom is the key to RP in this channel. Actions and attacks are posted giving the opportunity for a reasonable defense. In other words, an attempt is made.
God Moding; is defined as an action or attack which serves no other purpose than to "get one over" on another player or make onself appear a god. Further. any character that constantly takes no damage and is by it's power level unstoppable is also guilty of god moding. God moding will not be tolerated in this channel.
Autohits; are any attacks on another character or yourself which do not leave room for a defense or a reaction. All attacks must be attempts or worded as such. Combat in the channel or affiliated channels should be conducted with patience and respect for your opponent. All attacks should be clear as to intent and pupose, convoluted and messily worded attacks only lead to confusion. Keep attacks creative but fluently use language without appearing obtuse and confusing. Autokills or instant deaths are also not allowed.
It is recomended that every fight and it's query accounts be logged as problems can and do arise during the times when ops are not present. If your character dies and you have a dispute the Ops will need to see logs to make a decision on the matter.
OOC versus IC
OOC is out of character comments and these should be kept to the OOC channel #Harsh`Reality. If you wish to post OOC comments within the main channel please use brackets. <<>> (( )) {{ }} [[ ]]. Please keep this to a minimum and excessive OOC in the main channel will result in a warning and temp ban if the warning is not heeded.
IC, defined as "in character" can and sometimes does involve the use of explitives. Swearing, the use of foul language etc is permitted IC only. Please do not use it or any other offensive language or comments in the OOC channel #Harsh`Reality. Any breach of this rule will result in an immediate tempban at which point you will have to pirvately speak to an op to have the ban removed. Offending people is not what this channel is about.
R-Rating
You are warned the Club Vampire channel and i'ts affiliated channels are R-rated for mature players. This does not mean that gratuitous sex and violence will be RPed/portrayed there, but it does mean that certain themes presented will be of a mature nature and content. Please keep this in mind if you intend to RP with us.
Most importantly....Have fun.
Some important RP hints for the beginner and experienced player alike.
Above all, description. Learn, apply. Some people say, "If you can't post more than three words, don't bother playing with me". This is not to say that you have to use big fancy words, or post 20 lines for one action. Just try to portray your character in a way that is believeable and detailed, it's all about the content. Insted of simply walking across a room, why not describe your movement further? At the least, is it a slow and steady pace? Is it a seductive sway? Is it the stumble of a drunkard? Is it the scuff of depression? Where are your characters eyes focused? Are they cast to the floor, destination, staring off into oblivion, distracted by the other sights around them? Description. Ideally, RP should paint a picture for the other players. Every movement that applies, or even lack of movement, could be described. Once again.. Description is the key.
To alot of people the term 'Mature RP' simply means a 18 plus rating, with swearing allowed, as well as 'mature' content. Umm.. no, it means alot more than that to most. It means that as a mun, you do your best to stay true to your characters natures and keep things semi-realistic. You don't spend your whole RP time having your character become an annoyance just to draw attention. A prime exsample are the people who's [And yes, we've all seen them before] characters always seemed to be plagued by a mysterious illness that vanishes within three post. Leaving the character that was at one moment bleeding to death at the bar, magicly recovered and sitting in the rafters the next. Maturity means responsibility too. Be responsible Roleplayers.
Try to understand the difference between IC and OOC. If someones characters are rude, offensive, backstabbers, then don't take it personally. It doesn't necesarily mean that the player is that way...but, he/she could be. The key here is not take RP out of the context of the game. the same can be said for romance, just because a characters says they love your character, that doesn't necessarily mean they love you.
We hope these little hints help.
